How To Play Blackjack

The objective of Blackjack is to beat the dealers hand without going over 21. In Blackjack, Ever player competes against the dealer- not the other players. In a given game, each player tries to get a hand higher than the dealer without “busting”(going over 21). Only then can a player win their bet. Players are scored based on tallying of the point values of their cards:

  •    2-10: values is same as card (e.g. 4 is worth 4 points)
  •    Jack, Queen, King: 10 pts
  •    Ace: 1 or 11 Points(Players Choice)
  •    An Ace and a 10, Jack, Queen, or King equals 21 points and is known as a Blackjack.

1. Make a bet

Each Player wagers a certain amount of chips. All Players must submit a bet.

2. Dealers deals a card to each player as well as themselves

The Dealer hands a card face-up to each player and then places a card face-down in front of themselves. The other Players can see each other’s hands- No one can see the Dealers first card

3. The dealer deal out a second card

The dealer passes another face-up card to every player. This time the dealer deals themselves a face-up card leaving first one still hidden.

4. Gameplay starts with the player to the left of the dealer

Player to left of the dealer goes first each round, From there each player takes a turn going clockwise around the table

5. Stay or hit

Taking a look at your hand. Add the points together- How clos is it to 21 and how does it compare to what we know about the dealers hand. If your closer to 21 one staying might be the best option. If you number is low “hitting” or getting another card might be the ticket.

6. Cycle through each Player until the turn concludes

Give each player time to look over their cards and choose to hit or stay. Players who hit too often may end up busting(going over 21). This automatically loses the round and the players initial bet.

7. The Dealer reveals second card. Winner is determined.

The Dealer flips over their original card to reveal their complete hand. If the total is 16 or lower, they are required to hit. 17 or higher they are required to stay.

If dealer gets blackjack, all the players automatically lose the round, unless they have a blackjack themselves. In this case, they push- in other words, the player who got blackjack simply gets their original bet back. A push also occurs anytime the player’s hand matches the dealers.

8. the pay out

Any Player with a hand that is higher than the dealer’s wins the round (unless they busted) all winning hand gets paid in a 1 : 1 ratio; if you bet 1 chip,  you win 1. If you have a BLAckjack hand,  you will typically get paid out at a 3:2 ratio – so, if you bet 2 chips, you get  paid out 3 leaving you with 5 total chips.

9. new round begins
